Fossa U12 Football 2010

The Fossa Under 12s participated in the County League and the East Kerry league in 2010. Training stated indoors in the Hall in early February and the attendance and

dedication shown by this group of players was the cornerstone of success in later competitions. In the county league, phase 1, Fossa competed in Group F where we won four and lost one match in the group. Fossa had excellent wins against Castlegregory, Scartaglin, Cordal and St. Pats, Blennerville with only one loss away to Ballyheighue. The performances throughout saw this team improve immensely and Fossa ended up deserving winners of this section of the county league.

In phase 2, Fossa were regrouped with Beale, Annascaul, Castlegregory, Finuge and Ballyheighue. Matches in this group were always very close and entertaining with wins against Ballyheighue, Finuge and Beale along with losses to Castlegregory and Annascaul. Beale ended up as winners of this group.

In the East Kerry league, Division 3, Fossa were in a group with Scartaglin, Listry, Spa (gold) and Cordal. Fossa won their opening three games against Scartaglin, Listry and Spa (gold) before losing to Cordal in a very exciting game played in Fossa. This set up a final between Fossa and Cordal for the Division 3 title. With Fossa winning in the county league and Cordal winning in East Kerry, it was always going to be a very close encounter in the final.

Played in Currow before a huge crowd, Cordal got off to a flying start and raced into an early lead. However, the Fossa team never panicked and were back in the game by halftime. In a very exciting 2ndhalf, Fossa showed great teamwork and with some excellent scores went on to claim a famous victory to seal a very memorable year for the under 12s.
