Fossa/Listry 0-07 Glenflesk 1-07
Fossa/Listry again lined out without Jimmy Falvey and Frank McCarty and never really got going, going in at the break 1-3 to 0-3 down after playing into a strong breeze, things looked promising for Fossa/Listry outfit.... BUT after some very bad misses early in the second half from frees and plays, thier challenge died away.
Best for Fossa/Listry ere Kevin O'Sullivan and John Foley
U21 East Kerry Championship 10/2/08
Fossa/Listry 1-06 Firies 2-09
Fossa/Listry lined out without star players Jimmy Falvey, Kevin Sullivan and Frank McCarty due to injury and a very cohesive and well drilled Firies side was too powerful for the Fossa/Listry combination as the victors won on a scoreline of 2-9 to 1-6.
The Fossa/Listry men started promisingly and dominated play for the first 10 minutes and were two points clear after five minutes. In this early period, Jimmy O’Leary and David O’Donoghue fielding well at midfield for Fossa/Listry provided the supply to the for -wards. However, Firies gradually settled and drew level after 18 minutes. A brilliant save by Firies’ Paul Dineen from Colin Davidson followed by a Firies goal in the 21st minute by corner forward, Padraig Keeffe, was the difference between the sides at half time as Firies led 1-4 to 0-4.
Fossa/Listry drew level within a minute of the resumption with a goal from Ciarán Buckley.
Firies’ midfield took control of their area in the second half and provided a good supply of ball to their forwards who scored four points - three from Colm O’Shea and the other from Niall McCarthy.
In the 50th minute, the post came to the aid of Firies when a powerful John Falvey effort rebounded back. Two converted frees from Damien Clifford brought Fossa/Listry within two points of Firies with 10 minutes to play.
Firies finished the stronger and had a point from Ian Crowley. On the stroke of full time, Donald Courtney powered through from midfield and registered Firies final score - a goal.
Best for Fossa/Listry were John Falvey, Kevin Leane in goal, John Foley and Jimmy Leary
